Ava took ballet for the first time this week. She went three hours each day to a princess ballet camp at a local dance studio. She didn't know anyone, and I honestly wasn't sure what she would think. She loved it and couldn't wait to go back everyday. We couldn't really stay and watch until the last day. It was killing me. She would talk about dressing up in her favorite color pink. She told me one day her favorite part was putting on makeup (uh oh, it was bright pink eye shadow). From piecing together her stories and getting there a few minutes early each day, I have learned that they also jumped on trampolines, danced with ribbons, twirls and spins, played with hoola hoops, balanced on beams, read princess books, and rolled down ramps. She mentioned this afternoon that she knew how to curtsy - definitely learned that at camp.
Aunt Leigh Anne and William came intown for the weekend. William took tons of pictures in the 20 minutes we watched them perform. I just love all her different facial expressions that I really couldn't decide the best way to show them.
From the still pictures, what I can say the girls got moves. Some of them she looks like such a natural. The attached video is in actuality what she did during her group's 5 minutes performance. She stood still, maybe covered her face a little, maybe wrapped the ribbon around her arm... They had broken the girls into three groups. Fortunately, no one in her group had ever taken dance. She was not alone. Some did their own freestyle dance, some followed the teachers basic moves, and some more or less froze except when they pranced off in a circle or were forced to another position. The latter definitely describes Ava. So who knows? We laughed until we cried. She still can't stop talking about how much she LOVED it and to me, that really is all that matters! :)
