We took the kids to dinner to celebrate, but they didn't know what we were celebrating. Daddy was so excited. They hadn't even taken our order and he was ready for the book.
Side note: Ever since PVB trip, Ava has been really into making books. She has to staple pages together and draw pictures and then she tells us the words to write on each page. I think the book it is from is called Libary Mouse (a mouse named Sam writes books and leaves them for the students to read each morning, eventually teaches the kids to write their own books). Anyway, Ava has written many books over the last few weeks. They were filling up the kitchen drawer so I suggested she write one about our family for each of our Compassion and WorldVision children.
I brought one to dinner for her to show Daddy.
There was a new page added...
Ava was confused... a new baby. Yes, we explained to her that we were adding to the family. She was very excited. She told us that she might not be able to sleep much until the baby was here. She is keen on telling people it is not coming until after Christmas, but before her birthday. She is going to be such a good big sister.
Bryce just kept talking about the baby in Mommy's belly. After talking to all the family on the phone (while still in the noisy restaurant), Bryce preceeded to say that that Mommy ate the baby (that's how the baby got in her tummy). We didn't quite know what to say, so I said the first safe thing that came to mind, "God put the baby in Mommy's tummy." Of course now he tells everyone this, and it sounds a little too much like an immaculate conception.
We also asked Bryce how he would hold the baby and he held his hands high above his head super hero style... It is a good thing we have a little time to learn how to help with the baby brother or sister. I know we are going to have two awesome helpers! We are very blessed and very excited.
